Valentine’s Day Lenses

Tags: ,

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching I thought it might be a good time to talk about my Valentine’s Day lenses an to ask for a little help from you (see below).

I recently made this lens for Valentine’s Day Gift ideas.   Oh! Nuts Valentine’s Day Gifts contains links to Valentine’s day gifts of chocolate, candy, and nuts.  They’ve really got some cute stuff over there.

I’m having good traffic on my Valentine’s Day Cupcakes lens which I made last year.

And my Vintage Valentine’s Day Postcards is doing okay.

Anyway, I’m looking for Valentine’s Day lenses to lensroll onto these so I’d appreciate you leaving the link to any of yours here so I can add them to my list.  Thanks!

Getting Those WIP Lenses Published

Tags: ,

Today was a very uninspiring day for me.  I didn’t get much of anything done.

I did manage to revisit something that I’ve had sitting as a work-in-process for way too long though.

I’m proud to announce that Grow a Kitchen Garden is now published.  It’s sort of half new articles and half lensography of my other vegetable gardening lenses.  I’ll be adding to it as I make my way through some of my older recipe lenses where I included a grow guide for the Veggie.  (Before I realized that my lenses needed to be more specifically focused to do well.)  I’ll be moving the articles into the new lens (and deleteing them from the old) where they really belong.

I’ve got a few more of those WIP lenses to do as well.  I’m going to make it a priority to get those unpublished lenses done.  They aren’t doing anyone any good sitting where they are!

I’m still looking for your best ideas for NEW Giant Squid perks.  You can tweet your ideas from the following  Twttrstrm lens:

What new perk for Squidoo Giants would you like to see added

Inauguration Day

New president.  New hopes for the future!  I for one am very happy to say bye-bye Mr. Bush and hello new day!

As far as what’s going on in my own little world:

I published another new lens yesterday.  I made Tiffany Table Lamps because I have been searching for a set of lamps for my living room and keep getting drawn to the beautiful stained glass artwork on the Tiffany style lamps.  I can’t really afford them right now but plan to incorporate one into my decor at sometime in the future.  In the meantime, I’ve collected all the information I’ll need on one page.

Today at the Showcase I put the Spotlight on Spirituality!  Spirituality shares what she does after publishing her lenses to help them be successful.  She also shares stories about the making of two of her lenses.  Take a peek.  It’s good stuff!

I finally got around to featuring my Valentine’s Day Cupcakes lens at Cabaret Squidoo.  There’s only 24 days, 8 hours, 10 minutes and 59 seconds until Valentine’s Day!

And I also got the Big Orange Recipe Contest information posted there.  It’s getting exciting.  We’ve already gotten a couple of entries!

You can see the blog posts here:

Oh!  Almost forgot I made another Twttrstrm lens.  How do you Make Money Blogging?  Because… I really want to know!

Enjoy your Inauguration parties tonight!  I know I’ll be celebrating!

Quick Dinner Recipe Contest and More

Tags: , , ,

Yesterday I spent most ot the day working on my new contest lens, Big Orange Recipe Contest trying to make sure I have all the rules in place and that all of my information makes sense.

If you write Squidoo recipe lenses, it might be of interest to you.  I’m looking for entries that contain Quick Homemade Dinner Recipes, something folks can cook up fast instead of hitting the fast food places.  I have an autographed copy of Rachael Ray’s newest cookbook as part of the grand prize.

Visit the lens to learn more:  Big Orange Recipe Contest

I also wrote another Twttrstrm lens called How Do You Make Money Blogging because I really want to know the answer to that question.

My Hey Mom What’s for Dinner Twttrstrm is doing great!  It’s ranked 181 today.  That has to be the fastest any of my lenses ever moved up.   If you haven’t made one yet, get over to Twttrstrm  and try it out now!  This is one Squidoo co-brand that is taking off like lightning.

I had something pretty cool happen to me the other night, the promo guy for the Regeneration Tour contacted me through my The Best of the 80’s New Wave Music – A-Z lens.  I told him I had seen the concert last summer and had made a lens for it, The Regeneration Tour.  He sent me the new Regeneration Tour 2009 logo and offered me some promo pics.  I told him I’d be redoing the lens for the new season soon and would hold him to his offer.  Unfortunately, they won’t be coming back to my town this year but I’m thinking of traveling to the nearest city where they’ll be playing this summer.  It really was a terrific show!

Last but not least, I posted the winner of the Choose your Favorite Giant Lens Contest yeaterday at the Showcase.  Fresh Squid FAQ – This Week’s Winner

I haven’t been giving the Cabaret Squidoo Best Recipes Blog the love that it deserves lately so I’m going to make that one of my priorities for next week!  Today I need to give my home a bit of tender loving care, I’ve been neglecting that lately too!

Have a nice weekend!

Twttrstrm

Today Squidoo.com introduced Twttrstrm to the world and so I made a couple new lenses to test it out.

I made How Would You Fix the Economy because everyone seems to think that the politicians and countrymen are doing it all wrong.  I thought it might be nice to give everyone a chance to tell those in power how to do it right!

And my new Hey Mom What’s for Dinner asks the burning question, well… it just asks what you’re planning to have for dinner tonight but I do believe that dinner is one of the most important questions we all ask ourselves everyday!  :)   I also thought it was a great way to get some of my recipes and my Cabaret Squidoo blog a bit more attention.

They’re really fun to make and I got a slew of ideas for more but unfortunately I’ve got no more time to play right now.

Today at the Showcase I’ve begun featuring the new Giants.  Take a look at Was it Luck? to meet one of our newest Giant Squid lensmasters.

That’s it for now!

New Giants Today

As you probably already heard we have a brand new batch of Giants and Top 100 Club members today and so in addition to congratulating everyone, I sent out a batch of emails to those who took my Squidu challenge and won.

I’ve decided to do it a bit differently this time around.   I’ll be Spotlighting the newest 100 Club members with mini interviews and I’ve asked the new Giants to tell me why they chose the lenses they picked to be featured.  I’ve gotten a few replies back already and I can’t wait to share them with you!

I also added some information about how we count the number of lenses you have to my Giant Squid Mentor lens today.  If you have any questions about the Giant Squid Program, or if you are interested in becoming a Giant Squid, please stop by.

Today’s post at the Giant Squid Community Showcase:  You Guys Are Awesome

New Blogs for the New Year

Tags: , ,

Today I’ve rediscovered my Squidtop.com blogs and set up a new one for the Gothic Temptations group because I just can’t find enough outside support for my Gothic stuff and I’m sure that many others in the group feel the same way.

The new blog is located here:  Gothic Temptations ~ The Blog  It will contain featured lenses from the group along with my own musings, interests, and whatever comes into my mind that day!  If you like the darker side of things please check it out.

I’ve also renamed my Squidtop – Cabaret Squidoo News blog.  It’s now called the Best Recipes blog.  I started that one when I discovered that because of its last name, I could never use an rss feed from the original (and still very very active) Cabaret Squidoo Recipe blog on any of my lenses.  (As you probably already know, no Squidoo based rss feeds work on Squidoo lenses.)  Thanks to Feedburner.com that problem has been rectified.

For now, the new  Best Recipes blog will only be featuring my own recipe lenses and maybe those of a few close friends.  Cabaret Squidoo will still be featuring recipe lenses from the entire Squidoo.com community.

There’s not much going on there right now but I’ll be working diligently on getting that one going as well.

That’s about all I’ve managed to get accomplished today.

I hope you didn’t miss yesterday’s post at the Giant Squid Community Showcase.  It contains links to two really helpful and informative blog posts about SEO and Keyword research especially designed to help you increase traffic to your Squidoo lenses.

Taking Suggestions

Tags:

I’m opening up a platform here for anyone who would like to suggest a Giant lens to be featured in a future post at the Giant Squid Community Showcase.

This will be our little Squidtop secret for now, okay?

Tell me which lens you’d like to see showcased and give me a quick reason why.  The lens can be one of your own (if you’re a Giant) or a Giant lens that you like.  To get this started, and to see where it goes, I’ll accept one suggestion per customer.

You can post your favorites here in the comments section or use my contact me button.

Can’t promise that every lens suggested will be featured but I’d sure like to take a look at what you’ve got.

My Best Panini Recipe lens hit the number 1 spot for its category.  Yeah!

And I wanted you to be the first to know that I will be the Squid Citizen Mentor in charge of taking it to the next level ,where I’ll be working to answer questions from lensmasters who want to become Giant Squids.  The official team and program hasn’t been announced yet but in the meantime if you know of any potential Giants please send them over to the lens.

 I’ll keep you posted!

I’ve Been a Bad Little RMS

I’ve been neglecting my Squidiary because I’ve been so busy at my job as a Giant Squid Organizer looking for, and finding, the next wave of Giant Squid Lensmasters.   Well, that and the fact that my youngest graduated high school last week and I had my mother-in-law fly in for the happy occasion.

I did have a chance today to build a lens for the Superhero Project at Squidoo.  It’s a tribute to my favorite superheroes, the Giant Squids, and a check point for all the Giant Squid Hopefuls to let them know what we are looking for.   It’s called What makes a Giant Squid Lensmaster a Superhero and I hope you’ll check it out.

I also finally got around to updating Cabaret Squidoo with a fabulous recipe lens that features the best peach cobbler recipe and also my namesake lens, Robin.

I promise to try harder to keep my squidiary up to date in the future!
